A Dream Carried by the Sea
Sea Ready Adventures & Tours was born from a dream one that started years ago with a young man, a deep love for the sea, and the belief that there’s always a way forward, no matter how hard life gets.
I’m Danovan Maximo, born and raised in Hopkins Village, Belize. I’ve always had a connection to the water. Fishing, diving, and exploring the sea are part of our culture here it’s in our blood. From a young age, I knew I didn’t want to work for someone else forever. I dreamed of creating something of my own, something that could bring people joy, connect cultures, and help support my family and community.
But dreams don’t happen overnight. For years, I worked with what I had an old boat, limited resources, and a strong will. Many people didn’t believe I could pull it off, but I never gave up. I kept learning, guiding, saving, and building toward something better.
Then one day, everything shifted. I took a family David, Jennifer, and their two sons on a half-day fishing tour. From the start, it was nothing but laughter, good energy, and storytelling. We bonded like old friends. Before the tour ended, they booked our famous Cook Your Catch experience and they loved every minute of it. That tour wasn’t just another trip. It sparked a friendship that grew into a partnership. When I shared my vision with them and asked if they wanted to be part of it, they said yes with full hearts. That was the moment Sea Ready Adventures & Tours truly set sail.
With David and Jennifer’s belief and support, and my brother Randolph at my side as our passionate, knowledgeable tour guide, Sea Ready became a reality. Together, we combine years of sea experience, a deep respect for nature, and the kind of hospitality that makes every guest feel like part of the family.
We offer fishing tours, snorkeling adventures, island hopping, river cruises, bioluminescence tours, and custom combos like Cook Your Catch and Fish, Feast & Glow. Every tour includes bottled water, fruit snacks, snorkeling gear, park fees, a Belizean-style lunch (on full-day tours), and most importantly heart.
Sea Ready isn’t just a business. It’s built on resilience, faith, and community. Behind the scenes, my fiancée and our four beautiful children have always been my strength. They remind me daily why I do this to create a future not just for us, but for Hopkins and for all the young dreamers who think they can’t.
Today, Sea Ready is growing strong. We’ve welcomed people from all over the world and no matter where they’re from, they leave with sand in their shoes and a place in our hearts.
Come as strangers, leave as family.
This is Sea Ready Belizean owned, family run, and guided by purpose.

About Hopkins
Hopkins Village is a charming coastal village located in the Stann Creek District of Belize, Central America. It is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant Garifuna culture, and warm hospitality. Let me take you on a journey through the history of Hopkins Village, providing insights into its past and what makes it an appealing place for visitors. The origins of Hopkins Village can be traced back to the arrival of the Garifuna people in the late 18th century. The Garifuna are descendants of West African, Central African, and Island Carib people who were exiled from the island of St. Vincent in the Caribbean. They settled in various parts of Central America, including the coastal regions of Belize.
The village was named after a man named Sir Hopkins, who was a logging contractor in the area during the early 20th century. The settlement started as a small fishing village, with residents relying on fishing and farming as their main sources of livelihood. The Garifuna people, with their rich cultural heritage, played a significant role in shaping the identity of the village. Over the years, Hopkins Village gradually gained recognition as a tourist destination, attracting visitors with its unspoiled beaches and tranquil atmosphere.
The village has managed to preserve its laid-back charm and strong sense of community, even as tourism has grown. Visitors to Hopkins can experience the authentic Garifuna culture through music, dance, and traditional cuisine. The Garifuna people have a strong connection to their African roots and have preserved their unique cultural practices, rituals, and language. The village is known for its vibrant drumming and punta dancing, which are integral parts of Garifuna celebrations and social gatherings. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about the Garifuna way of life, visit traditional drumming schools, and even participate in workshops to learn the art of drumming or traditional cooking.
In recent years, Hopkins Village has seen an increase in the number of accommodations, restaurants, and eco-friendly resorts, catering to the needs of tourists seeking a peaceful getaway. The village has also become a base for exploring the natural wonders of Belize, such as the nearby Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, known for its jaguar conservation efforts, and the Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The community of Hopkins Village takes pride in its commitment to sustainable tourism and preserving the natural environment. Efforts have been made to protect the local ecosystems, including mangroves and coral reefs, by promoting responsible tourism practices and engaging in conservation initiatives.
In summary, Hopkins Village is a hidden gem on the coast of Belize, offering visitors a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and warm hospitality.
